Is Ha Long bay worth visiting

A cruise in Ha Long Bay could be considered one of the most clichéd activities in Vietnam. It’s an extremely popular destination that attracts a staggering 6 million tourists every year.
Given its status as a unique natural wonder, there’s a well-established route leading directly from the hostels in Hanoi to the bay. What was once a home to a few quiet fishing villages is now bustling with hundreds of boats filled with eager tourists. Some argue that Ha Long Bay has become a victim of its own popularity.
Personally, I tend to be skeptical about highly frequented tourist spots and often find that they don’t live up to the hype. However, as the first rays of the morning sun paint a pinkish hue across the bay, my cynicism starts to fade away. In the daylight, the karst mountains emerge, forming a backdrop to the place where we spent the night. These majestic, forest-covered islets rise gracefully from the emerald waters. It becomes clear to me that Ha Long Bay truly deserves the attention it receives.
Should I skip Halong Bay?
Absolutely! If you happen to be in Northern Vietnam, you absolutely must witness the sheer beauty of this place.
We wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit this area again. Maybe next time, we’ll do a bit more research to ensure we choose a Halong cruise that suits our preferences better. But now we have a good idea of what to expect. Trust me, it’s worth it to witness the stunning and awe-inspiring sights this place has to offer. In fact, on our next visit, we might skip Halong and explore only Bai Tu Long Bay instead.
It’s always helpful to have an idea of what you’re getting into, so you won’t be disappointed and can fully immerse yourself in the breathtaking views. Keep in mind that the trip can be a bit pricey if you’re on a tight budget, but if you’ve made it all the way to Southeast Asia, it’s essential to prioritize experiencing the beauty of Halong Bay.
